If you are already wearing dentures, then you know how important it is to take care of your dentures. Dentures are an investment, and you want them to continue to look as good as new for as long as possible. That means cleaning them daily, as well as taking special steps to keep them from breaking or becoming damaged.
Here are some tips that can help you out!
Knowing how to care for your dentures can make the process of adjusting to them easier. At first, dentures may feel awkward or bulky. However, after an adjustment period, the dentures will fit comfortably in your mouth. In order to keep them from changing in shape or becoming uncomfortable, you should care for them properly.
Cleaning
It’s critical to clean your denture daily, but make sure you do so gently.
Soreness
You’ll experience some tenderness following dental surgery. This should not last more than two weeks. If your discomfort lasts longer, please contact our office.
You will likely have some mild soreness in your lower jaw and gums. We’ll give you a supply of pain relief medication to help minimize discomfort. If the pain is more severe, please call our office. You may experience some difficulty speaking or chewing, but these symptoms should subside in a few days.
Denture Adhesives
Denture adhesives help extend the life of your dentures by keeping them in place. However, they shouldn’t be used as a replacement for denture adhesive creams. While adhesives can help, they aren’t meant for every meal. Adhesives can be used only 3-4 times per day, as opposed to adhesives creams, which should be used every 3-4 hours.
